Throughout history we humans have taken many steps that have defined generations, nations, and now our collective environmental mindset.  As we trace this evolution it becomes ever-more apparent this generation is striving to move into a new consciousness with respect to the state of our planet, our interaction with it, and our relationship with the macrocosm in which it exists.  This evolution is the redeveloping awareness of what our ancient ancestors already knew - that far from being separate from our world, we are, in fact, intimately connected with it.  The Earth, the Moon, the Sun and Stars, the many other ever-unfolding wonders of this universe, inspire us to look beyond what we know to be true in this moment, and define a new truth for tomorrow.

The Odyssey Foundation exists to be a catalyst of that process ~ helping Humanity define a new truth for tomorrow.

We believe the key to doing this is enabling and achieving self-sufficiency at all levels of human society - “multi-dimensional self-sufficiency”.  Amazing that just a couple generations ago the term “self-sufficiency” was thought to intrinsically embody “isolationism”, and that an autarky wouldn’t, or mustn’t, or couldn’t take part in international trade.  But it’s happily apparent that we’re striving (and apparently succeeding) to evolve our thoughts in this regard.  We’ve learned the ironic lesson that achieving local, national, and global self-sufficiency can’t happen in a bubble of isolation - that in fact, it will clearly and certainly take a high degree of cooperation and collaboration at all levels of human society.  And likewise, we must not confine ourselves to thinking that when self-sufficiency is achieved, isolationism must then become the norm.  For once a locality, a nation, a species’ survival is assured - it is then, unburdened of the fear for its own survival, truly free to engage in Trade for a Higher Purpose - for the social, cultural, and spiritual enrichment of itself and of its neighbors.

For now, The Odyssey Foundation’s part is to provide a global window into the efforts and organizations that are moving humanity towards multi-dimensional self-sufficiency through a portfolio of projects known as the Planetary Steward Ship InitiativeTM.

As we work with our partners to move these projects forward, we will learn from, capitalize on, and leverage the efforts, experiences, and lessons learned from those who’ve already started - and now continue - to blaze humanity’s path towards sustainability.  And along the way we’ll provide status updates with detailed information we hope will inspire others to discover their own path to self-sufficiency and figure out how to DO what needs to be done to walk it.

From the best of our imagination we must bring the new reality that waits to spring forth in the midst of inspired, wise, peaceful, and global collaboration.  When together, we’ve created a world of peace and freedom, a world free of poverty, a world in which all children grow up with a sense of purpose, direction, and value - then we’ll know that we - Humanity - have succeeded.
